May 2 - On track, working hard, but oh, sooo tired
Wednesday, May 02, 2012
This morning, it was all I could do not to throw my phone (alarm clock) across the room. Instead, I hit snooze. I've been really good about not doing that when I know I have to get up and go to the gym. But today, I just wanted to sleep. Even though it was Leg Day. I love working legs. I don't know why... glutton for punishment, I guess. But I'm usually super motivated on leg day. Yeah... today... not so much.
I got up a half hour later than I planned, but I figured it would be fine. It's a shorter workout today. It's ST only today, no extra cardio at the end on the plan, even though I planned to get on the treadmill when I finished to at least try 1 mile of running. My doctor told me I could try on Wednesday... so I was definitely going to.
I got up eventually, and out the door, and got my workout in. Here's what it consisted of:
(I hope my workout details don't bore you to tears... lol)
~ Leg Extensions - 2 warm-up sets with lighter weights for 30 reps/set - used 25 lbs
~ Wide Stance Barbell Squats - (2 lighter sets of 15 reps, 2 heavy sets to failure) - 15@25 x2, then 20 @ 40lb, 16 @ 50lb
~ Leg Press - 4 sets of 8 - @ 100, 120, 120, 120
~ Walking Barbell Lunges - 3 sets of 20 (10 per leg) - @ 40lbs
~ Barbell step ups - 3 sets of 10 (5 per leg) - @ 30lb barbell
~ Plie Squats - 3 sets of 15 - w/ 2 15lb dumbells on thighs.
~ Standing Calf Raises (Smith Machine) - 3 sets of 20, last set to failure - 20 @ 65lb x2, then 18@65lb
~ Calf Presses on Rotary Calf Machine - 2 sets of 10 @ 110 lbs
Then a PAIN FREE mile on the treadmill. Needless to say, with all of that calf work at the end, running kind of sucked. It was slow and my legs felt like bricks. But I guess I should have realized it would be that way on leg day. DUH! But the important thing is that it was pain free.
I won't try to run again until probably Friday or Saturday. Tomorrow's workout calls for cardio, but I'll likely do the elliptical. I want to be 100% sure that I don't push too much in the next week and a half. I have a race planned for the 12th! LOL
Now, I am at work. And still tired. As soon as I finished my workout, I felt really good. But by the time I got to work, tired again. And sooo sore. I don't want to risk overtraining, so I am going to see how I'm feeling tomorrow morning, and may take a day off. I hate to do that, because I have not missed a LiveFit workout since I started the plan (with the exception of Leg Day falling the day after I finished a double marathon weekend... yeah, that wasn't happening... LOL)
Yesterday, I finished the day in the lower end of my calorie range, but I know I need to be in the middle at least to sustain all of the working out. I've just noticed that, lately, after cooking dinner for the rest of the family, I'm just not hungry! I can be starving all day long, feeling like I can't get enough to eat.. but by dinner, not hungry at all. It's frustrating! But, I'll figure out the balance. Maybe I'm eating my afternoon snack too late. Or maybe it's just losing my appetite after eating clean for so long now and then cooking crap for my family. It's not that I WANT to, it's that they won't eat anything healthy I cook.
Tonight, I'm planning on making some BBQ Chicken Pizza with Mango BBQ Sauce again. The sauce is already made this time, so all I really have to do is cook the chicken, load up the crust, and bake it. It was SO good last time I made it. I doubt I'll have any problem at all eating tonight. I may actually eat too much! AND, I am planning on getting to bed earlier. Last night, I stayed up a little later than I planned to watch the Finale of The Biggest Loser, only to be disappointed that Kim didn't win.
Time to get some work done. Maybe getting busy will wake me up.
Happy Hump Day!
