I was so looking forward to last weekend, as it was our church's annual Women's Retreat.
The friend I was going with was just as excited as I was. She was up at 5:30 A.M. on Friday. We weren't planning to leave until about 1:00 P.M. She finally called me at 10:30 A.M. and asked me if was all packed and ready to go. I had been busy packing a little at a time all week. She couldn't wait any longer, so she called me at Noon and said she was on her way to pick me up.
After she came to my place we had to pick up two other ladies were riding with us. We then stopped to buy some Subway sandwiches for supper, as the lodge where we were staying did not provide supper on Friday, but they did have a snack after our bible study session which ended at 10:00 P.M.

It was a beautiful day, full of sunshine. We really enjoyed the drive. It was so nice to get out of the city and away from all the noise and lights. We had to stop at a nearby restaurant, as we were too early to go to the camp. Finally we arrived and got everything stored into our rooms and made our beds. We had to bring our own bedding and towels. It was great to find out that the four of us were sharing a room, and no one else was sharing the room with us. Some people had 7 and 8 people to a room. There are bunk beds, so 8 people can fit in a room.

The weekend was just an awesome, relaxing and blessed time. The sessions were on
"Following The Heart of The Shepherd", which encompassed teachings from the 23rd Psalm.
This was such a blessing to me, as the 23rd Psalm was the theme of my dh's funeral in September. I received such a blessing from all the messages. These weekends are truly a blessing. The ladies in charge take such good care of us. We are given gifts of all kinds throughout the weekend. The food was delicious. They also took care of those of us who have Diabetes, lactose intollerence, etc. The lady who spoke was the leader of the Women's Ministry in our church. She prepared a list of bible verses showing us who God is and who we are in Christ. Before the retreat she prayed for each of us and gave us a word from God.

On Saturday after our session we had most of the day to ourselves. There were some workshops that we could attend, i.e. a birdwatching group, an exercise class, a scrapbooking class, etc., or we could just go and have a nap, read a book or go for a walk. I chose to go for a walk around the lake and just enjoy the beauty of God's creation. There were several geese and ducks on the lake as well as several birds along the pathways. After a while I went back to the lodge and spent some time in the prayer room While there, I received a revelation from God. I felt Him tell me that I was His child and that He would take care of me. What a blessing.

It was hard to leave on Sunday, we just didn't want to come back home. We had such a wonderful time.

On Monday when I got up, I was thinking that now things would get back to normal. However, I received a cd in the mail that I had ordered a while ago, and something made me open it and play it right away. It was a beautiful cd containing music of some old hymns. Before each selection, there was a bible reading. It was so beautiful and relaxing to listen to, and I again felt so truly blessed.

The four of us have made plans to go together again next year. We can hardly wait.

    Hi Darlene,

I don't know why I didn't get an email notification of this blog, but I am so glad I have read about your beautiful time away. It all sounds so special, particularly the 23rd Psalm - I think your DH continues to reach out to you and let you know he is looking after you as well. No doubt you felt your faith strengthen during the course of the weekend, and what a bonus to be able to share the power of the experience with your 3 friends. I am so glad you had such a blessed and memorable time.

    Love and hugs, Nattacia

What a wonderful time! Thank God that He knows when we need to be re-charged, and He provides what we need. Even the special message from your DH! God does work in mysterious ways. I pray that you have an equally wonderful week!
