Lentil burgers and a day of rest

1) My ribs still hurt. Logically, this happened when I fell on Friday (Its Tuesday as I type, 5 days later) but I didnt start feeling it until Sunday. It feels exactly like a stitch in my side. But instead of going away in minutes, its still here 3 days later. I even took a total day of rest today. My hand is better and the ankle feels fine. My inner hypochondriac (of course I have one, dont you?) has decided I either chipped a bone or have a weird hernia. I'm ignoring the hypochondriac. Clearly, she has issues.

2)As part of the Healthy Eating Challenges, I'm looking at how to make substitutions. The thing is: I've already made a ton. And the problem was never that I ate loads of junk, I just ate too much. Problem solved courtesy of the Tracker. However lately I've been having an enormous hankering for a bacon cheeseburger. So I decided to make lentil patty burgers and see if they satisfy the urge. OMG so good. I screwed up the texture a little bit - they were too soft, but I can definitely see using these as a substitute for when the Urge Strikes. Seriously, if you have already slashed the fat & calories, then why not put a slice of cheese up there? What about turning it into a healthier patty melt? (One of my favorite sandwiches) This way I can *trick* my cravings and still feel virtuous.

Sadly, Child was having none of this weird burger business and I had to do the parental strong-arm to get him to even eat half of it. But then ate the tomatoes instead of the french fries and a yogurt for dessert, so I guess I'll keep him. Plus he's really cute.

    I'm sorry about the pain you're feeling and hope you feel back to yourself soon. I completely understand about the "eating too much" concept; I know that I'm not at a standstill because I'm not eating right, it's because I still eat too much! Arg!
But lentil burgers do sound delish... willing to share the recipe?

The lentil burgers sound interesting. We've been trying a lot of new recipes around here, too, most of which the kids have enjoyed.

the lentin burgers sound amazing! a new place in boston is serving chickpea burgers, which were awesome, but illmhave to try the lentil soon.

    Are you sure you didn't crack a rib? Or strain some muscles? Pain that lasts several days should get the attention of a medical professional.

The lentil burgers sound really good. Where did you get the recipe? Is it on Spark People? Can you share the link/recipe/secret ingredients?

The Child is beyond adorable. But you already know that.
