Feeling More Energized!

Monday, April 30, 2012

Getting back to feeling like myself physically, mentally as well (not counting the damage done by the stroke a few years back...sigh). Cutting back on the medciaton has helped immensely. I'm so tired of taking pain medication, well really all my total combined medication I can just scream. I checked out a book on overcoming chronic pain and getting off of pain medication at least I can hopefully in time not have to take the pain medication anymore! Parents are still being their emotionally abusive selves just back to being able to brush it off like I usually do or get to the point I tell them to shut up.

I've kept my exercise close to the same, I've added yoga and aim to do at least 10 minutes a day with it and I am doing the bootcamp challenge for something new, I'n hoping I will be able to stick with it if I don't get my service disconnected.

I went to the locaI health fair again this Saturday when they had it at another location close to the house that had different screenings than the other one that I went to 2 weeks ago. I went mainly for the body in balance screening. Lady gave me alot of advice on my balance issues between the combination of the neuropathy in my legs and feet and the stroke. She said I really need physical therapy to really work on my balance issues. Hopefully I can do that at some point. so for the meantime I have a few to work with. I got my blood test results from my blood chemistry screening and everything is great except my LD serum is high and have no idea what that is. Going to ask the regular dr for workman's comp what the heck that is. I've raised my HDL cholesterol since I I had my cholesterol tested in January it was 40 something then and now it is at 61! I lowered my LDL so it is out of the high range as well!

I got an appointment set up for a financial screening for a low income Doctor office for May 10th. My nerve specialist through workmans comp really wants me to see a regular dr because of my past history of stroke. He really doesn't like the fact I am only taking 325mg of aspirin to keep my blood thin, his concern is I should be on something different as they don't know the reason behind what caused it. He is also concerned beecause of history of blood clots in my family. I only called whis place 2 months ago to get the screening part set up wonder how long until I can actaually set up a doctor appointment LOL.

I, also suffered a stroke 3 years ago. Together with Type 2 Diabetes, it left me with balance issues and neuropathy in my feet and legs. Although I don't know the exact "cause" of my stroke, my triglyceride levels were mentioned. Maybe you could ask your Dr. about that at your next appointment.

As far as the balance problem, taking stairs as often as possible (I know it's hard) has really made a difference. Also, walking on a treadmill specifically has also helped.

Hope you are doing better each day. It's a long haul, but you know what? It could have been a WHOLE lot worse for either or both of us. I don't know about you, but I will never forget what it felt like to not have the ability to walk, write, or feed myself.

Really hope you have a good day today and better days ahead. emoticon
