Review of April Goals

Monday, April 30, 2012

I did not expect to be as successful in April as I was in March. Well guess what? I wasn't. I was not as focused this month and life happens. So how did I do.

1. I will try to lose 6 pounds this month.

I started the month at 187 pounds. My weight last Friday was 184. My weight today is not reliable due to the Indian food I ate yesterday. I will claim 3 pounds, but that does not meet my goal.

2. I will achieve 1500 minutes of exercise this month. emoticon

I have to thank my love of gardening and good weather. My exercise minutes for the month were 2655 minutes

3. I will do ST (90 minutes) at the Y 10 times

I went 9 times. I was close but did not make my goal.

4. I will either walk or do yard work 12 out of 30 days. emoticon

Thanks again to my love of yard work I got in 18 days

5. On Y days if I am not doing yard work, I will ride the recumbent bike for 30 minutes. emoticon

Only did not do yard work once but that's fine

6. If I achieve these goals, I will give myself a reward to be determined later (since I can't think of anything right now LOL).

Not a problem since I did not achieve my weight loss goal.

7. At the end of the month I will review these goals and see how I did.

I just finished doing that. My exercise was fine due to the yard work, but weight loss was lacking. I will be shaking up my program in May. I have added a couple of challenges. Now I have to see if I can continue losing weight. I am 12 pounds away from 100 pounds lost. I would like to see that by the end of June.

I've just realised that you are EXACTLY 4 months older than me - August 2nd for moi! Your goals and streaks make me shudder in both admiration and shame. Now, I must be careful because you inspired me so much when I first joined SP that I overdid it and ended up with a cruciate knee problem. Jokingly, I ascribed it to you - haha! - but it was because of your incredible determination that I wanted to match and beat you on my powerwalk - without having built up to it. DUH! Much improved, the knee still isn't back to normal so I must use the motivation which you inspire in me sensibly. Age is no barrier to achievement but the older body sometimes needs a bit of care and commonsense in order to combat a youthful mind and personality! I'm passionate about garden work, as you know, but, after just one whole day of no rain since 5th April, I simply cannot get the hours in. The UK is in the midst of the wettest March and April since records began, and May is forecast to be the same. The reservoirs are still way down after a few years of drought and hot summers - yes, up in the 80F's and no rain for weeks on end - so we still have a hosepipe ban; bizarre when the rain is of biblical proportions and everywhere is flooded. We're not complaining because after successive dry years this is a godsend - but oh how frustrating! I stare out of the window and marvel at the varieties of strengths of water falling, from constant drizzle through to constant light rain through to literally sheets of water for hours on end. So, no garden work to help shed the pounds.

I am fizzing, now, with determination to revisit my strategy and kick-start my regime into a better organised endeavour. Good on you, Rosa - always the arch-motivator for me!

J.

Quite an accomplishment! 88lbs is really remarkable, and I know you will hit your goal! Well done.

I love your idea of setting monthly goals and then reviewing them. Gonna steal it, lol!

I think you did very well this month. I was impressed by your activity numbers. Good for you! I know you will meet whatever goals you set, even if it takes a bit longer.

Know that you inspire me and I would bet others as well.

    You are doing emoticon !

With all those exercise minutes you should be calling yourself "SHE-RA"!

3lbs isn't 6lbs- but losing 3 lbs is nothing to cry about.

I bet you can lose the 12 by the end of June. You sound pretty motivated!

Continued SUCCESS!
