Cup Holder

Monday, April 30, 2012

Tech Rep: "Yes, it is. How may I help you?"

Caller: "The cup holder on my PC is broken and I am within my warranty period. How do I go about getting that fixed?"

Tech Rep: "I'm sorry, but did you say a cup holder?"

Caller: "Yes, it's attached to the front of my computer."

Tech Rep: "Please excuse me if I seem a bit stumped, it's because I am. Did you receive this as part of a promotion, at a trade show? How did you get this cup holder? Does it have any trademark on it?"

Caller: "It came with my computer, I don't know anything about a promotion. It just has '4X' on it."

At this point the Tech Rep had to mute the caller, because he couldn't stand it.

The caller had been using the load drawer of the CD-ROM drive as a cup holder, and snapped it off the drive.

emoticon I got a sad but true story to tell you. I didn't have a computer of my own yet. I always used one at the library which is always on and ready to use. This one day I needed to use one but didn't want to drive to the library when I have a key to the neighbor's house. I called her to ask if I could use her's. Said sure so I went over. I pressed the power button and nothing happened just a little light came on. I called her to say all I did was touch this button and nothing really happened what do I do now. She asked if I pressed the button on the tower. The what? She then told me to press the same button I pressed before. I did and waited. She asked if the light went out. I said it did then she told me to leave she'll teach me when she got home. Now 3 years later look at me blogging. Decorating my SP page. Doing a vision board on the computer, posted it, and have it as my desk top. And yes, the desk top on the computer not my desk. emoticon I relate a little too well to the guy using that as a cup holder. Yep me 3 years ago.

This is an oldie but goodie. I used to work at a help desk for the phone company (works for the phone co. for 23 years) - but you have no idea what strange calls you get (and this was an internal help desk only) .. many a time I had to hit my mute button emoticon
