I had a great week, exercise-wise! I did the elliptical twice (2.25 mi. each time) and went to water aerobics twice (45 min each). That means I exercised for 4 times this past week (I know many of you exercise daily, but this was a big deal for me)! It really felt great, too :)
Had a lot of fun with friends over the weekend and went out for dinner twice. Once was to a local diner, who actually upgraded their menu drastically. They focus now on using locally fresh produce (although nothing available locally this time of year) and antibiotic free meats. I had an omelette with spinach, cremini mushrooms and swiss, served with whole grain wheat toast, strawberries and turkey bacon. Many of their dishes are now lower in fat and calories (and list the nutrition info on the menu), but unfortunately, the nutritional info on many dishes still aren't listed. They're not really a chain, so I guess it's not required.
The second night, we went to a Vietnamese restaurant. It is located in a renovated, trendy downtown area. Beautiful, very modern decor and very upscale. Very different from their old location a block away...it used to be very worn- looking. The new menu was much smaller...probably so they could focus on making a few dishes very well. I had a cellophane noodle dish with veggies, shrimp and chicken which was delicious, and a dumpling appetizer (also really great). I thought that the prices weren't as high as you would expect, considering the decor, and the place was packed.
Yesterday, I went with my mom to her annual volunteer luncheon. She volunteers once a week at a local hospital, and they do a great job thanking their volunteers. There is an awards ceremony during the luncheon, and we were there from 12:30 until 3:15! I was very happy to see a former student of mine (and her mom) there, too. It was really nice to catch up with them. Linda was in my class when she was 9 years old and is now 30. She has cerebral palsy and other medical issues, and volunteers at the hospital every day during the week. She celebrated volunteering for 4000 hours! One of my mom's friends (who is in her 80's) also attended the luncheon, and showed me a picture of her skydiving piggybacked with the instructor! That was pretty awesome.
I did not lose anything this week, but at least I did not gain...especially considering all of the restaurant food...so I'm okay with that. Looking forward to a healthy week and hope you are, too.
