My yearly visit to my doctor once again revealed the fact that I need to monitor my BP more often. I haven't been very good about this; usually checking in with the school nurse for a good month or so, and then not checking until my annual dr. visit. Not any more.
I've been watching my weight and size come down since January, so I was naturally concerned myself when my BP was up during my April 2nd visit. So I left and went home to plan a low-sodium diet. I looked up DASH, made my adjustments and off I went to the nearest Wahlgreens.
I bought a blood pressure monitor, the kind you put on your wrist. My first week, I checked it often and at different times just to get the hang of it. Now I check it 1x a week, usually when I get up. My BP has come down! And I'm watching my SP plan a lot more closely these days.
