In a rut

Sunday, April 29, 2012

Ok so I really do not like winter or cold anything. I have been in a bit of a funk all winter because I'm "stuck" in the house. I work outside all day so when I get home I just want to get warm and not do much of anything.

My friends are all single ladies and money is tight for all of us with the economy the way it is. We try to do fun stuff now and then...... but you know how it is sometimes.

I miss my Kids.... they are all busy and on with their lives etc etc... still miss them at times.

I need to start to rethink why I'm in such a funk! Don't like it here! So what am I to do?!?!?

I am going to think about this and work on it!

Maybe try a change. A change of venue - get out and explore art or other things related to things you love, such as gardening. Perhaps a new interest, even short term, may give you needed inspiration and regeneration. What have you always thought you'd like to do, but never got around to it or didn't have the opportunity to accomplish??
(and btw, your background is absolutely beautiful.)

Maybe you and your friends need to get together! It doesn't have to cost M-O-N-E-Y. It could be as simple as watching a chick flick (or whatever floats your collective boats) on DVD.

Put on some funky music and dance.

Have a party where you collectively plan a menu and everyone brings some of the ingredients and cook it together.

Just some ideas.

As a retired, single woman...on a pension...I understand being on a tight budget. And I live in the great, white north, so I understand cold. For me, winter is the time to enjoy indoor hobbies...knitting, crochet, embroidery...whatever. And I celebrate that I can do it without feeling guilty that I'm not weeding the garden or some other outside chore. The rest of the year...there is yard work, reading a book (when the mosquitoes allow it), riding my horse, riding my motorcycle, walking the dog...

Last year (after saving my pennies) I bought a good camera & have taken a couple photo courses...

I am always looking at new stuff to learn...with very reasonable costs. And I always have a 'change bank' where I save for something special. I even have an SP bank...I put $1 for every 500 fitness minutes & $1 for every pound lost...when I get enough, I will do a spa weekend. Whenever that may be...

So...just some suggestions...

Ah Chris, so let's do something fun to get you out of your rut. What would you like to do? Do you want to join the "spring into shape" challenge with me?

I offer no solutions. I have learned that men "always do that" even when not wanted. But you are the only one who can solve your funk.

I love being at home and doing my garden and having quiet domestic times, and I know that I require privacy and me time just to be. Whereas DH has to get out of the house at least once a day, the hermit life certainly doesn't suit him. But once I have had a good long stretch of time as a hermit, even I notice I am feeling a little ... blue? Discombobulated? And I realize I have to get out. Maybe that's one reason I get such a big kick out of my Zumba class, there is a kind of community, we all nod and maybe chat, and smile at each other at our struggles with the complexity of the steps. The other is, it's just fun! Maybe if you get out and have a bit of fun, the clouds will be chased away. Hope so, anyway.
