I have 2 garden areas. One is my smaller one that is close up by the house and is the one I have always planted in. I have another one that is very large and will have my corn and sunflowers in this summer. Along with my large space vegetables, squash, melons, etc.
My DH and I went down to the large one today and were getting ready to clean up. Weed eat, mow, rototill. I was weed eating around the edge of the inner side of the fence (to keep deer out) and lo and behold, I found a nest of turkey eggs. About 6 of them. I didn't want to get too near. Needless to say, I made a wide path around it.
My DH went down about a half hour ago and the momma bird was laying on the eggs. We are so happy we didn't disturb her. He was going to rototill. He found another project. :)
Every year we have a nest of eggs and every year a predator gets them. We are hoping because she chose to be on the inside of the garden, it will help.
I'll try to take pics tomorrow.
