Hey guys and dolls, I am finally ready to begin the journey to becoming slim and sexy!

I have been struggling with my weight since about 2 years ago when my son was around one years old, I have been trapped in a comfort for far too long and have not given myself the attention I have needed. This has resulted in me being about 66pounds heavier than I am happy with and feeling like a fat recluse never wanting to leave the house with the fear of the daunting task being finding something to wear.

I have all the tools and know how to lose weight and now its getting motivated that is my shortfall. I am hoping that by being active daily on sparkpeople that I will feel motivated so if anyone has any tips on articles or blogs to read please let me know.

    Welcome to Spark from a Canadian!!
I had been overweight my whole life, but got a lot bigger after my son came along. I hated how I felt moving my body around and how I looked.

I've been with Spark for 3 years, lost 90 pounds in my first year and have managed to keep (most) of it off for the past 2 years. [Injuries and getting back into bad eating habits helped put some weight back on] but that is the past. The present and future are here and if you are ready to kick some butt and take names, you can do it all here! Spark can be as simple or as complicated as you want it to be.

Motivation is a tricky thing. You're a mom. I bet you have a wall calendar to keep track of all sorts of things, am I right?

How do I get myself motivated to workout? I schedule my workouts and rest days on my calendar, just like an appointment (just the date, no time-it could take hours or be after my son's bedtime before I get it in). Then when I actually get it done, I get to put a fun sticker on my calendar!!! I went to pick them out, so they are funny, sometimes sparkly, or whatever I want. Right now I have 2 stickers on my calendar. silly little monkeys and sparkly food. the monkeys are for my workouts and the food is for when i log all my foods in the tracker.

So seeing that calendar getting filled with stickers is my main motivation. I want to have a sticker on every day!

    Welcome to SparkPeople!!! I live in South Louisiana, USA. I have been on SP for about 9 months. Lost over 30 pounds in the first 3 months and then got stuck. If you follow the program it DOES work. I just slip too often. I have joined the Spring Bootcamp for a 4 week challenge. Any of the challenges are good tools to get you going. They usually start you with one or at most two changes each week over the course of 1 - 2 months. You develop new habits and slowly and that makes it more likely to stick.
