Today was the 5th Annual Kyle Wilson 10K Fitness Walk to remember Kyle Wilson, a local firefighter that died in the line of duty April 16. 2007. Fitness was important to Kyle and his family has this annual walk to not only remember him but to promote his passion, fitness. It's called "Pack the track" and it was packed today.
We started off at Hylton High School and walked the hills of Spriggs Road for 6.2 miles.
Thanks to Wanda, Tom, Kim, Celia, Brandon, Lisa, Fiona, Emily, Aziz, Keesha and her kids and Katina for coming with me! Spark friends, co-workers and family-couldn't ask for a better group of people.
Thanks to the many PWC Police there for their support today!
I didn't set any speed records since we leisurely walked, but didn't go at a snails pace either. I finished the 6.2 miles in 1:46:15. I think the majority of the 500+ walkers stopped at the 5K mark because we were pretty alone on the second half of the walk.
RIP Kyle....you will ALWAYS be remembered. Thank you for your service to PWC and for your ultimate sacrifice in trying to protect and rescue that family on April 16, 2007.
Thanks to all the area Fire Depts that came out today in a day of remembrance and a day of celebrating and promoting fitness.
