I Survived My First 10K...

Saturday, April 28, 2012

I did it! I was nervous, but I persevered!

Several runners were using ipods, iphones, etc. I could have used mine... But, it was interesting to hear my breathing, being more attentive to my foot - which didn't hurt at all, hearing runner's conversations, and mother nature. We were running around a charming, little, waterfront town with marinas, and historic houses. Today is their town celebration, so quite a lot of the residents were out on their sidewalks cheering us on.

This is me coming into the finish line!!

My time on the clock was 56.07 The person in charge couldn't get the chip readings and is going to work on it and then post the "real" times. I wanted to run it under an hour so I am happy. I definitely run faster with my music and will use my ipod during the relay two weeks from today. I think I am also going to run one more 5k next weekend for speed in preparation for the relay.
I would love to hit 55 mins or under!!

Yay, R.M.! Way to go! So proud of you and it looked like you were "leader of the pack" in your photo! So, how do you feel? Was it harder, mentally or physically? How did your body react afterward? Thanks for visiting my blog, too! Wow, you really did great! Good luck on your next races! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Congratulations on another great run! I'm sure you can do it in under 55, especially if you can get some sort of cues on your ipod to help you with the timing.

Nice that you found not having the music allowed you to hear and focus on other things - a change of pace.
