When I read these blogs or message board posts basically revolving around excuses, complaining and whining, it really kind of crawls under my skin and bothers me. Oh, you thought this road would be easy? Please. It’s probably the hardest road we could choose to take. But you know what? You CHOSE it and that’s amazing. What comes with this road, though, are a whole lot of obstacles, hurdles to jump, demons to fend off, and dark dark days. There will be days when you look over your shoulder and still see that other road, and long to just turn around and go back. But you can’t go back, you just CAN’T. You must push through, whatever it is you don’t think you can push through, you CAN. Keep trudging along this road, full of dark passengers that try to beat you down and temptations you have to learn to say no to. It gets easier. It does. But you seriously have to believe in yourself that you CAN do this and achieve your goals, however overwhelming some of them may seem.
You have to know that you are fighting for something; you are fighting for YOU, your wellness and your life. Don’t give up. You cannot stress over exceeding your carb intake, or your calories, or that you had a second slice of pie when you know you shouldn’t have. This does NOT derail you and does not DEFINE you, nor does it accomplish anything other than making you feel like a failure. We will continue to come face to face with our demons and our weaknesses that try and pull us under, but you have to be a fighter - punch them in the damn face!
Even if it’s hard to believe now, at whatever point you’re at in your journey, there is something at the end of this road, waiting there, just for YOU. You need to be your biggest cheerleader; no one else can be that for you. No one else can enforce the rules for you, either. We are accountable for every workout we do or don’t do, every second helping of food we choose to accept or decline, and every positive or negative step we take. Through all the trips, stumbles, fall downs, get-back-ups, and trips again, just know that you’re almost there. You CAN make it. We’re all fighting for you!
