My Pixie Plan

Friday, April 27, 2012

To achieve my goals for BLC-19 I will do the following:

1. Add a motivational quote to my signature (to by done by end of day tomorrow - Saturday). I will review it every week and decide whether to replace it.
2. Track my food. This was key to my best success four years ago, and I have definitely strayed. Because I frequently do not prepare my own food, I don't always know exactly I what I am eating and how much. But that is not an excuse; I can guess.
3. I will post to the Pixie team thread at least once a day and address at least one Pixie personally. I will waive this only if it is absolutely impossible to post. Otherwise, even a short post will have to do.
4. Keep my BLC streak alive (minimum of 20 minutes of exercise per day, 6 days/week). Of course I strive for about 45 minutes a day, 7 days/week, but some days it just may not happen.

Tomorrow I will participate in my first 5K ever, thus fulfilling a goal to do a 5K before my next birthday. I do not expect to have a great showing, and depending on the makeup of the field, I could finish in last place. I normally walk my 5Ks and have not had the opportunity to train to run this one. But I have decided that it is better to do this rather than just talk about doing it. If the results aren't great, it sets the stage for improvement next time!!!

Excellent goals! I can't wait to hear how the 5k went! I'm sure you've probably posted about it on the team thread, so after I'm done reading blogs I'll fly over there to check in with everyone. Congrats on running your first 5k!

I hope you had fun with your 5k.

I just walked one a couple weeks ago. I met a fellow sparker there for the first time and we walked it together. We came in next to last, but had a great time walking.

You are right about guessing on the food. A guess is better than no guess at all.

How exciting! Your 1st 5K!! It doesn't matter even if you are last. What matters is that you finish, and that you can do!
I've been reading BOOKWORM's blog and she takes measuring cups and spoons in her purse. I have started this practice, even though it is uncomfortable in public. I even had my food scale along for dinner at church and at a friend's house. It is very thin, so not so noticeable. But I have to think of me and my goals and get over my embarrassment. Just thought that might be an idea you can use for when you are away?

I'm running a 5k tomorrow morning as well! Races are so much fun, and I've noticed even the most seasoned runners are very supportive. Best of luck! :)
