Craving Okra!

I have been craving good old fried okra for weeks now but didn't want to eat anything fried.

I did it!!! I broke down and made it last night and boy was it delicious!

I have been faithful with cardio everyday in April so far, (26 days cycling/1day walking), and thought I would just reward myself. It was worth it too! At least I used olive oil and all natural cornmeal. emoticon

    Oh my, fried okra is my favorite food! I don't eat it very often, but it would be one that I would definitely have trouble turning down if it were placed within my reach!

    I think it's okay to have some of your favorites if you eat them in moderation and not every day! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

    There are foods that I love,love,love to eat but are not weight-loss friendly when trying to take off a few pounds, let alone a whole other person. But instead of calling my taking off the pounds a "diet" I am calling it "a whole new lifestyle without being deprived." Now after saying all that, Fried okra is a favorite at my house. My mother has always had a big garden since I was a small child and okra was always a "number 1" crop in her garden. We always had fresh fried okra during gardening season and all the extra we would slice and bag for the freezer. We always had enough to get us through the months until the next gardening season.

    These foods I work into my menu so that I won't go above my calorie count. I don't deprive myself of these foods so that way they don't become overly important. I have found that by doing this I do not obsess on these foods and can stay true to myself by eating healthy.

    Good for you on doing the cardio all month, a little reward now and then isn't a bad thing. It sounds that you are really focused on the things that you need to do and will continue doing so. Best wishes on continued success.
