Journaling for a New Lifestyle

Journaling is an important part of making a lifestyle change. I don't always journal online, but I am thinking maybe I should. Over this past week, i have eaten 1142 unplanned calories and that resulted in a one pound gain. So while I am not seeking to lose weight, but to change my lifestyle, the weight loss is a measure of success in changing my habits. This week has held several challenges, from having to have the grandchildren's pet husky put down, to cold wet days making exercise a challenge, to having some baked goods available that are not normally available, but always desired.
In reviewing my week and seeing that my journaling has been sparse, I recognize that my mind was not fixed on making the healthy decisions that face me each day, each hour. This indicates that I have not "arrived" and that journaling is a crucial tool for me.
I sit here now with a pecan pie muffin on a plate next to me. I am going to give it to my assistant to eat rather than eat it myself. I can make that choice because I am journaling.
