Woohoo! Looking Good Lee-Lee! At present, I am streaming a new song I purchased from Amazon.com, via their Cloud Player. It's called, "In the Air" that features Angela McClusky, written by Morgan Page. One of its lyrics asks, "Can you feel it? Can you feel the change? It's in the air." My reply to my new friends, Angela and Morgan: "Why, yes, so glad you asked... I'm certainly feeling the change in the air". This song has been my theme song for Phase 3 Week 3 - I'm making progress!
As I previously blogged this week, I've started the RushFit program and it's certainly handing my A$$ to me on a silver platter. And oddly, I find myself saying, "Thank you, Sir, may I please have another?" I guess that's a outward manifestation of my inner sadist. It's not as 'pretty' as a Beachbody DVD series; but it delivers a wicked punch! I like its guiding philosophy - "treat the body as a functional unit". And so it does! It combines the cardio intensity of Insanity; while coupling the strength training of P90X.
In the past, I've spent some good money on an Celtic Knotting Embossed leather belt, along with a big Celtic symbol belt buckle. I must admit, I am rather fond of this belt and buckle set from Ireland. I wear it all the time, regardless if I'm in jeans; or even if I'm donning a suit and tie. It's my 'fashion statement' that I am an individual. To me, it's my proclamation to the White-Anglo-Saxon-Protestant influenced America - that I'm playing the game; but I'm unabashedly proud of my Gaelic ancestry. It's my carry over from being "Weekend Irish". I bring up the belt because since I've started this venture almost 11 weeks ago -- well, I've been moving one notch at at a time in the right direction. Seemingly, this week, I've moved the belt to "John Wayne Status". Yes, Cowboy, my big metallic buckle is hanging loose, like I'm ready to ride off into the sunset. I'm speechless as I'm now notchless. If I'm to continue wearing my beloved belt - I'll be needing to find a leather punch to make a new hole. (Actually 2 holes to be precise). All in all - I've moved the buckle approximately 4, perhaps 4.5 inches.
I hopped on the scale this morning prior to commuting to work; and was elated to see a 4 pound weight loss. Last couple of weeks I've not noticed a reduction at all. In fact, last week I sort of 'ignored' that there was a 2 pound gain. But, I attributed the gain to my switch up to include more weight training - which signals to the body to release the 'sexy bulking up hormonal cocktail through the blood stream'.
Last night, I spoke with a friend in my Political Science Class during our break. He enjoys fitness as well, and I shared with him that I had purchased the RushFit program. This is my third consecutive class with him; so, he's been observing my switch up as I launched my Release the Beast - RESET! program. He told me, "Lee, I've noticed your weight loss over last term; and I can even see a difference in the week between our class sessions". Yeah, that made me smile. He asked me if I was getting in shape for something like a Tough Mudder, or a Run For Your Life event. I told him that I was getting in shape fore the health benefits alone. Then, I 'fessed up that my initial motivation was to get ready for my upcoming trip to Las Vegas. I had everyone in the vicinity laughing quite hard when I said, "Yeah, you know I have to look good while pool side in Vegas... That, and when I'm shaking it like a white guy up in the club!"
So, yeah, I'm happy to realize the evidence that my hard work is coming to fruition; even if that means I'm to part with my favorite belt. It's just a good excuse to go shopping, I suppose. Speaking of shopping -- I am under six weeks out from my trip to Vegas - so, I'm going to keep pushing hard to cut and define whilst burning that awful fluffy stuff, aka FAT. I want to get a 'special night out' set of duds for my last night in Vegas. My wife scored us SPECTACULAR seats to see the Cirque Du Soleil show at the Bellagio entitled, O. We are in the forth row, practically stage center. She nabbed us a package deal that includes dinner, drinks, and even dancing following the performance in the night club at the hotel. She also managed to get us 'front row seats' in the coveted 'duo sofa' seats for an uninhibited view of the sultry, sensual side of the Cirque's Zumanity show, too. So - we'll be pretty much 'showed out' when we return home from Sin City.
So, yeah, a Sparkbud of mine told me that he always wanted to 'gamble' at the Bellagio with one of their games... So, I'll be sure to do one 'bet' in his honor whilst at the Bellagio. But, I wonder if it is customary to split a jackpot with the person whom you are honoring? If it is - and I win - Mum's the word! :-)
