As you may have noticed, we have a slightly updated design to our "Start" page where you are taken after logging into SparkPeople. The overall functionality and all the links are the same. However, we did an extensive amount of testing the page with both new and experienced members to find some things that were not as intuitive as we would like. We also added a small "Hide" link by each section so you can hide sections if you don't use them.
As part of this, we slightly changed the "navigation" links at the top of the site (My Trackers, Healthy Lifestyle, etc). We used to have a 2nd row of links, but these were redundant with the "dropdown" links you get when putting your mouse over the navigation. Again, this was done to simplify the site.
Here's a new tutorial video that points out all the key features of the Start page. It's a great thing to watch whether you're a long-time member or a new one, plus it'll point out all the new features of our redesign.
If you have any problems or questions, please let us know here.
Thank you for the explanation. Unfortunately this explanation has arrived several days after the event!
I have been having major problems over the past several days, as have a number of friends (judging from feedback and comments in various places).
It ha annoyed me for months that the "pull down menu" from the top bar wouldn't stay in place for long enough to use any of the items. But at least I was able to access those items once the "default" page showed itself. This past week - I've had the worst of both worlds, together with plenty other members.
Today, for the first time, I found that the drop-down menu stayed in p,ace, so I could access any item on it. Today - working through SP has, at last, been a pleasure again!
I was intending to send in a question this evening, to the SparkTeam, to find out why such important information was not being given out in good time, and in plenty of places (just in case the info had already been provided, but several members had missed it).
I'm still not convinced that this is the best format - I seem to be needing far more key depressions to get to where I want to be in the site. However, I expect that practice (usage) will overcome the worst and/or most time consuming problems. 2033 days ago
I love logging in and immediate seeing how much more I have to eat, how many more calories I have to burn this week and how much weight I lost right off the bat. It gets me raring to record my fitness and food, knowing that I'm going to have a healthy living day, and the results speak for themselves! 2033 days ago
I just went back through the new starting page, I am really going to like this! First reaction, as perfectly normal, is "Oh, I don't know, why would they change?" But that is how most of us react to change, but after reading this and looking at the video and then going back, I like it! 2033 days ago
Most of the new look I appreciate, but I have to admit to really disliking how the graphical appearance of the calories in, calories out, and weight tracker were changed to numbers. Somehow seeing 1150-1400 in big black letters just isn't as snap, easy to think with as a little colored line about 1/3 of the way to the end. 2033 days ago
Since the updates I have not been able to fill out my team goals properly.
I go to Track other goals Then I go to Track team goals It says How much? I put in a number Then I want to fill out the Optional Comments field and I cannot type in that box. It just bumps me back to the How much? field.
