As you may have noticed, we have a slightly updated design to our "Start" page where you are taken after logging into SparkPeople. The overall functionality and all the links are the same. However, we did an extensive amount of testing the page with both new and experienced members to find some things that were not as intuitive as we would like. We also added a small "Hide" link by each section so you can hide sections if you don't use them.
As part of this, we slightly changed the "navigation" links at the top of the site (My Trackers, Healthy Lifestyle, etc). We used to have a 2nd row of links, but these were redundant with the "dropdown" links you get when putting your mouse over the navigation. Again, this was done to simplify the site.
Here's a new tutorial video that points out all the key features of the Start page. It's a great thing to watch whether you're a long-time member or a new one, plus it'll point out all the new features of our redesign.
If you have any problems or questions, please let us know here.
Eh, don't love it but don't hate it either. I liked seeing my calories burned bar move further to the right each day and my weight bar move further to the left (most weeks). I'll get used to it I suppose.
Just please do not become like Facebook where the format is constantly changing, and changing to things its customers don't like.
I'm a special education teacher so maybe that is why I really love the new layout. It is more fun and much clearer. Plus, I love change. Isn't that what we're all about here on Sparkpeople? Cheers to Sparkpeople for modeling the beauty of taking risks and instituting change!!! Woo Hoo, Leslie
I do like the new layout of "my goals & progress". Seeing how many calories I still need to burn, in big bold font, really got me motivated today. Seeing the big zero is lovely!!!
Layout is nice but do not like blinking todays top stories. Would rather click on each tab on my own. Is there an option to turn off the scan without hiding it?
I completely agree that the site looks more like a "kiddie" site now. I really prefer the previous design and would also appreciate having the option to choose which version to use.
Oh, I very rarely like updated web site changes. Always wish there was an opt in / out option for those changes. I'm trying to adjust. Feels sort of like the FB timeline.
With everything getting bigger or more kiddie like, i could never make believe I was reading something for work any more! May reduce my Sparking time in half.
With the change, is there any way to save past weightloss information? I would like to see what I've done in the past while lossing weight to compare to what I'm doing now. If you reset you perameters, you lose all past history (unless I'm not looking in the right place which is always a possibility! LOL!). Thanks!
I miss the "health news" tab--it was always interesting to have that (more, frankly, than the insider stuff--for me, I hasten to add). And I find the huge pics distracting. I always prefer more information rather than less, and this site is so simplistic-looking it's a bit of a "kiddie-sized" turn off after 4 years of the other, more "adult-level" site.
More cluttered looking! The text instead of the visual in my Goals and Progress section is a downgrade if you are a visual person. The differing sized text in that section bothers me, too.
The new tracker buttons look like they belong in a child's game. I would prefer it to be cutting edge and relevant for adults. The current trend in design is cleaner and this doesn't follow that at all.
I noticed it yesterday!! Love the look - the rounded buttons too! I think it looks pretty slick! Although - if you upgrade again, I'm sure I'd love that just as much! Thanks for all your work to keep things working smoothly for all of us!! :-)
Thank you for keeping the site looking "fresh". I didn't know the changes were coming but I have been busy enough to not get a chance to read all the info coming through regular channels. But the changes seems to navigate easily.
I did not get the e-mail confirmation at my gmail account but I did get 6 other e-mails. I tried to respond to an e-mail in my sparkle inbox but it said I could not respond without confirmation. I tried the link to resend the "confirmation" letter but it said it expired. Help. nick.altieri55@gmail.com Thanks, Nick
I didn't notice the changes, but I can be a tad slow. However, I love the new article layout and the related articles beneath them, so I am confident that I will love or learn to love the new layout. Can't wait to notice/check it out!
As long as you have gotten rid of that miserable tool bar at the bottom of the page (which I posted about and apparently mine has now be turned off as it wouldn't stay hidden no matter how many times I tried to hide it) then, I'm okay with whatever. That tool bar was nothing but a pop-up ad.
