I lost 50 lbs with Spark People 5 years ago, and then gained back Every. Single. Pound. Talk about discouraging.
My paleo journey started as a surprise. I didn't even know what Paleo was- other than seeing the term in some recipes a friend would post on Facebook.
I've been wanting to lose weight again, but had no motivation whatsover. In February, my co-workers started a weightloss challenge, and I halfheartedly joined. I didn't do much with it, but the seed of getting "back on track" was planted. At the beginning of March, my cousin posted on Facebook about a Whole 30 challenge that she was doing. I read the intro, and decided that even I could do this for 30 days. So I did, and as I started losing weight (you're supposed to break up with your scale as part of the whole 30 but I didn't - it kept me focussed) I realized that it really wasn't so hard. At the end of the 30 days, I was 15 lbs lighter, and just feeling better overall. I don't have too many health issues, so I couldn't put a finger on it, but I did feel better.
So I decided (before the 30 days were up) that I wanted to do this forever. I don't have health issues right now but diabetes and obesity run rampant in my family. I am obese, and I dealt with gestational diabetes with my last pregnancy. And I will be celebrating my 40th birthday this September- and while I don't expect to be done with the weight loss, I would like to be in onederland by then.
Some of my research led me to Dr. Kruse's Leptin reset diet which I will be following for 6-8 weeks. I'm in to my 2nd week now. I am now down 21 lbs. In 7 weeks, I've lost almost half of the weight that I lost 5 years ago!
I am going to start walking and strength training this week, because I fully intend to adopt the whole Paleo Lifestyle. I strongly recommend Everyday Paleo and The Paleo Solution to understand some of the science and benefits behind the Paleo lifestyle.
