Some People's Kids

Wednesday, April 25, 2012

I was stressing out last evening over everything when my youngest daughter called. "What are you doing Mom?" "Hmmm...let's see...nothing really." "Wanna go get a pedi with me?" I hesitated because a pedicure really isn't in my budget. Before I could come up with an excuse, she butted into my thoughts and said "It's on me. Pleeease say yes." We went to the spa and had a super-duper time. I let all my stress fly away for a little while and it felt good. She complimented me on how I looked and that also felt good. Having my feet look good felt/feels fabulous.

After getting our feet pampered, we went spring clothing shopping for the princess and that was fun although she and I don't agree on how to dress our little girl AT ALL. She wants her daughter to look fashionable and I like her to look cute. We finally found a happy medium and found some darling clothes and shoes. We also agreed my daughter had spent enough money and ought to stop shopping. My daughter decided she was hungry and wanted Applebee's. I haven't tried to eat there and couldn't find anything that fit into my eating plan. I finally decided on a pasta and chicken dish. Holy Cow! They brought be a serving bowl full of food. Outrageous! I ate the celery (sans dip) in the appetizer and didn't touch the deep-fried chicken wings, smothered in sauce. I ate a helping of the pasta and chicken and brought the other helpings home for another time.

I really need to do something super nice for my youngest daughter. She knew exactly what her old mom needed. I got up this morning and went for my walk and was thinking something else about her. She will leave me in the dust at the upcoming 5K. Her inner competitor won't let her drag in last place just to be with me. I decided to run the last half block home. I did it! There may actually be a runner inside of me. So, for the rest of the week, my goal is to run that half block home everyday. It isn't much but it's a start.

You have a wonderful daughter. What a special time the two of you had. I've never had a pedicure before. I've had foot surgery on both feet does that count? lol. Way to go on the running. You keep running that half block and before you know it.....a whole block and the world is yours to run in!!! Great way to pick up the spirits. Hope you are having another special day today. I'm pooped from working all night but oh well..... I choose to work this crazy shift so can't really complain.

Glad you got a chance to take a little break. You balanced it out well too. You had fun but were still mindful about your health and made some wise choices. Good for you.

Did they paint some designs on your toe nails? I'm still enjoying the pedicure I got over a month ago. My toe nails have grown some, and the polish isn't perfect anymore, but the little flowers she painted on my big toe nail still look cheerful. It gives us an excuse for looking at our beautiful feet. Its no wonder that everyone is insanely jealous of you.

Cheerios! (Thats my Americanized (commercialized) expression for the British goodbye).

Great idea! All runners start with a block. An inch is a cinch, a mile is a trial. I read that today on a popular spark blog...seems fitting.
