Maybe I've been hanging around too many authors (attending the Texas Library Association last week was WONDERFUL, by the way!) but I couldn't help perking up when I heard the radio traffic report this morning saying to watch out because there was a flock of goats on the road between here and the next town....
I'm pretty sure that I've never heard such a traffic report in all the years that we've lived here, and I've driven that highway many, many times, and have not even noticed goats along that stretch of road... emus, yes... goats, no...
Anyhow, I guess I'm thinking that that's what life is like, generally pretty smooth sailing, easy going with a few limitations, a speed zone here, and a dotted line that you're supposed to observe there...
And you have a few contingency plans in place, just in case something untoward happens, but all the time you are moving, or trying to move in a straight line...
But who expects GOATS??!!
Did you wake this morning and say to yourself, "I think I'll try not to run into some goats today"?? Did you think, "Today is the day for a Close Encounter of the Goat Kind"??
I guess I'm thinking that One cannot fully predict the challenges that Life has stored up for One, and which surprise the daylights out of One, when One is not looking....
And that One should roll with the punches, ready to adapt and adjust, and in general enjoy the trip for the variety of interesting experiences that Life offers, or One will have to install a swivel on One's neck so as to be ever vigilant.
Are you ready for Goats on the Road of Life?
