A little better now

Wednesday, April 25, 2012

Last week was crazy with the dance job and mom going to the hospital but I still managed to
get my walk in 5 out of 7 days.

this week is a little better but I have not gotten my walks in yet
there is some reasons
monday I had to go out of town to Altoona PA
normally this can be a 7 to 9 hour day depending on the job AND THE WEATHER

Oh brother 80 degrees last month so I took the cover off the pool
that almost guaranteed more snow---murphy's law--
then yesterday I went to Fairmont WV
this would have been about a 6 hour day except as I left Fairmont
my phone rang -It was my mom from the hospital to say they are releasing her in an hour.
--No there not Mom I'm 2 hours away.
It did not matter --they still were not ready when I arrived that delayed me until 5:00
it was 6:30 by the time we were home and settled down and it was a dance practice night.
unfortunately there was no time to exercise.
I know that dance is good exercise -- but I'm the musician
and though I can play the dance music adequately --I dance like a horse.
so my job will always primarily to play the music.

Oh yeah the dance on saturday was nice. I attempted to dance with a couple of different ladies---and I did warn them up front that I'm not a very good dancer --and I managed to step on all of their toes bump into several people and accidentally tripped an older couple--just a little they didn't fall or anything.
Then after the dance , in the club we had a session with a couple of guys frome the Duquesne university tamboritzens and one of their fathers also on accordion.
well they played some german songs and some croation and servian songs while I tried to follow by ear and improvise--wow
I hate to break the news to some of my hard rock friends this music is faster and more complicated that anything on the radio

one more thing
last week I was working near one of my favorite Italian stores and I took a picture of what I think is the best olive bar in pittsburgh--probably because it is actually closer to Greensburg

They also have a great bread selection and deli sandwiches
Yes I know this stuff is not on any serious diet plan and I know you are not supposed reward yourself with food --but you have to smell this place.

They also have the best produce section --I'll photograph that next time.

Have a good week

Dances sound like fun. I'm gardening and leaving music alone for a while..until my veggies and fruit trees are ready for summer. July and August I just wait to harvest, so there will be time then.

Your pictures made me hungry. Such delicious looking food. Can't wait to see the picture of their produce. That should be a work of art.

So happy to hear that your mom is home from the hospital. I hope she's doing well now.

Good to hear. Oh, and the olive bar! Every time I go to Whole Foods or Fresh Market I have to visit the olive bar. Love the olives.

very glad your mother is back home safe and sound. I am sure you do not dance like a horse. Anyway, horses are beautiful. The pictures of the food looked wonderful. Irresistible!
