So as the title says we are to blog about ways we save on healthy groceries. I have been thinking on this and Bobby and I have made some changes to help our budget.
One thing we attempt to do (but still need to do more often) is plan our meals for the week. That way we have a list of ingredients needed and stick to it.
We also try to hit the reduced racks. There is one in the produce department that has some slightly bruised or marked produce. We just cut away the bad parts and use it.
The meat department will have reduced prices on some things if they are close to their "use by" dates. We will purchase them and then freeze. If we buy large amounts we divide into serving sizes (or make the ground turkey/meats into patties) and freeze. This makes it easy to just pull out what you need and cook.
We do buy generic or store brands on a lot of items. We have learned which products we like just as well or even better in generic. For example Bobby loves the store brand oatmeal better than the name brands.
I think the best way to save is to plan ahead before you even enter the store and to be diligent in looking for the best bargains offered at the time.
