I was trying everything to force myself to get into a better lifestyle and even Spark wasn't enough...or so I thought at the time. Depression took over and I didn't know why. One thing I do know is that I always told myself and others that depression was a state of mind that takes over everything else that belongs to you. You can overcome it! When I was depressed I couldn't take my own advise and I realize I was using depression as a crutch. I told myself that I have tried EVERYTHING and nothing works because depression makes everything fail. But I just had to keep looking...Nothing in my life has changed, no dramatic diet, no therapy, no medication, no new friends or uplifting family suddenly taking an interest in me or distracting me from the pain, no job change, no extra money coming in, no contests being won and no weight loss. Wondering what happened to me? You are going to laugh when find out what simple thing pulled me out of depression...First let me start off by saying....I LOVE to cook! Granted there are days when I don't feel like cooking but just looking at tons of recipes gets me excited to cook and makes me feel happy. BINGO! There is the key....find one thing that makes you happy and run it out! Literally. I look at recipes online and started watching Food Network videos. Not having cable or being able to afford it I realized I could not watch this channel of fabulous food and recipes...or could I?....Guess who has cable?....Hehe....That's right! Gold's Gym has cable! Membership is way cheaper than cable in my own home and now I have something to look forward to when I go to the gym and I get a great work out while I'm there! I go everyday just for 30 minutes (1 episode, sometimes 2) and get a great work out. In one week I lost 6 lbs without changing my diet or anything else! Just getting that happiness from watching a show I love and getting a workout feeling of energy at the same time brought me right out of my depression and back in the game of life! Thank you Gold's Gym for having cable! So I've come back to my spark account, taking the next step to making goals and bettering my life even more! Now I'm ready to take control of my life and make it awesome!
