I am still a bit stunned by the results of my medical tests. I've done more research on Fatty Liver and came across a few things that get better search results: one is metabolic syndrome, which includes fatty liver with diabetes, hypothyroid, obesity... I am thinking that all my hard work, exercising and eating well, may not have resulted in weight lose but it probably did prevent diabetes and thyroid problems. The other thing I found was a condition called NAFL non-alcoholic fatty liver.
My doctor had said that my test results were similar to an alcoholics. That led me to finding a lot of good advice on Alcoholic and rehab web sites. My father was an alcoholic, which is why my diagnosis is so hard for me to accept, I have zero tolerance for addicts. One bit of advice I saw everywhere was taking MilkThistle, which I immediately started after researching the herb. It is one of the most researched herbs and actually heals the liver. This does my soul good. I was raised to believe all we need for nutrition and healing was put on the earth around us by God. It was frustrating not being able to cure myself, to lose weight and my stubbornness could have killed me. I feel blessed to have found a good doctor.
I have lost 17 pounds and have adjusted to my extremely low calorie diet. Since I do not eat processed foods, it is easier to accomplish. That said one of my favorite dishes was discovered in a Panera Restaurant in DC. It is a Mediteranean egg white sandwich. I hadn't had an egg in a month, so it was especially tasty. It had spinach and sundried tomatoes with parmesan cheese on a frocaccia bread. I make it at home and it's lovely. I am getting used to using th elittle carton of eggwhites.
Okay, need to get going today, I was sick for the past few weeks with a very nasty cold. At first I thought I was extra sick due to the diet but then my husband got sick and he's is worse off than I was! So far a trip to a party in DC and an illness have not interrupted my progress!
I see my doctor again on Friday, can't wait!
