I've been working very hard all day on a class project that is due very soon. In between bouts of research and typing, I've been doing stretching, a couple of basic core strength exercises, and drinking a lot of water. I've also been logging all my intake.
This evening, needing a bit more of a break, I checked my nutrition tracker and found out that I could afford one McDonald's chocolate chip cookie. So I got in my car and drove over, windows open, enjoying the fresh air.
I at the cookie slowly, savoring every bite -- and enjoying the fact that I didn't feel the least bit guilty or anxious about eating it. I had been sticking to my plan and my caloric and carb allowances for the day made it a no-cost indulgence. I also realized how satisfying just one can be, which will make it easier to eat with moderation the next time I get a craving.
I'm now back at my computer, still working on the project, feeling relaxed and cheerful and on track regarding just about everything.
