Things fall apart....sort of....

Sunday, April 22, 2012

So this was the week that I actually got a few days off! Now reason would have dictated that I should have spent those days productively....cleaning the apartment which has been largely ignored these last few weeks of busy season, looking for that elusive sofa, making doctor's appointments for post season check-ups.... In short all the things I set out to do when I took the days off to begin with. What did I actually do??? Went to Central Park and read, went to a few museums, checked out the green markets (still looking for the elusive goat). HEY! I've been cooped up indoors all winter behind a desk. I really didn't fancy being cooped up in my apartment. I mean the weather was SO nice and all!! Yeah so basically I'm a slacker.

Of course when Thursday rolled around and I had to go back to work, I felt really guilty that I'd slacked so badly. But then after 3 meetings I realized that if I'd worked the whole time, I porbably would have killed someone by the end of the 3rd meeting without a purpose.

This weekend I spent a lot of time working on my chapters for the next project meeting in London the 1st week of May. Would you believe I'm going to save the firm oer 1800$ by staying over in London for the weekend, than if I flew back Friday or Saturday?? That's just NUTS! Oh well...weekend for me in London!!

Originally I was hoping to pop over to Wales and spend the weekend with my friend in the RAF. Unfortunately, she'll be on deployment in preparatio for the Olympics. I'm hoping she'll get the weekend off and be able to come down to London or that we can meet up somewhere. It's not like it's a huge country.

This weekend I also went to the docs. 2 reasons. 1 to talk to her about smoking cessation methods. She's put me on Zyban. And 2 to talk about my crinkly paper sounding knee. She didn't seem to think the knee was much of a problem. She said that surgery for cartiledge tears aren't really all that effective. And let's face it' I'm just as happy NOT to get cut open! So I'm under orders to come back if I start getting pain and we'll re-evaluate then. So all the stuff I'd cut back on is full steam ahead. Except I may give up on the running. It never really took with me. I really do prefer the biking. I think Ive come to the conclusion that not everyone needs to be a runner!

So Brad and GetStrongrrr that's where I've been and what I've been up to. Didn't run off to Mongolia again. Am considering Morocco for this year. So yeah...I'm back. This week's going to be rough. The last of the busy season, then freedom!!

nothing wrong with choosing to recharge your batteries during your vacation time instead of chores and to do lists. The work will always be there but not so the "me" time and ability to enjoy the things you do. NNow you will be better prepared t tackle the dreaded t doo list, once you return from London. Enjoy your time there. I was only there once and loved it, can't wait to go back.

No one on his/her deathbed looks back and thinks, "I wish I'd tidied more, and completed more chores."

When my children were very small and I was overwhelmed by minding them, cleaning house, therapy for my son, trying to save bits of me for myself and for my husband, AND a full-time job outside the home, a wise woman once said to me, "The house isn't dirty until the cat sticks to the floor." I think she was onto something.

Maybe I am a slacker too, but I am really pleased that you spent your days off enjoying life! To me, that's what it should be about!
What are your exact dates in London? I live about 45 mins train ride from it! As you seem to like museums, you probably have lots of plans on how to spend your free time in London, it is such a great town!
Good luck with the stopping smocking thing, and you are right, running isn't for everyone at all (as in, it is not for me either, unless I have to because I am late!) stick to what you like and that is good for you!

Well that is certainly time well spent! Hopefully the weather was great to boot.

Funny, SWMBO is about to stop smoking as well. She is going to a hypnotist! On the recommendation of a friend and dentist, both of whom said they finally quit after this therapy, she signed on.

The first part is to switch to low tar/nicotine cigarettes for 4-6 weeks which is what she is doing now....then the swinging clock on a chain comes out.

I'll keep you posted! Enjoy London....hope your friend is doing well!

btw, there's another friend on SP here I talk with a lot, HAKAPES....lives in Hungary, spends a lot of time in Morocco, he's there right now....really loves the food!
