Well, my fingers were crossed that the rain would hold off until yesterday's 5K was over, but I wasn't so lucky. The race began at 9 AM and there was a fine mist around 8:30 or so and then 10 minutes before the race the rain came pouring down!
. This was my 3rd 5K race and the second time I challenged myself to the PHR 5K. This race is not for sissies, let me tell ya. It's a wonderfully designed cross-country race taking place around the intermediate high school in our school district. The turf consists of grass, gravel, asphalt, mulch, stones, rocks, puddles and loads of mud thanks for the rain!
. I began the race with two things in mind...finishing the race without getting hurt and in one piece and to beat my prior time from 2010 which was almost 45 minutes. Well, I did it...I made it in just under 40 minutes! And I didn't fall - although there were a few close calls. All in all I am so happy with myself and the accomplishment I made.
Now, if only I wouldn't get so darn sick after running these 5Ks! I am troubled with allergies! Every time I seem to run a 5K I end up getting so ill from these allergies!
Oh well, feeling better today and looking forward to May's 5K!
