Monday I met a friend for brunch - I was dreading coming home and having to FIT-IN my workout - I live in a rural area and have to drive 40-60 minutes to get to the city... A few years back they converted the old railroad tracks into a walking trail - so I decided to dress in my workout clothes and invite my friend for a walk with me. She could not go with me - but I took my two mile hike on that trail. When I got home - I felt relieved that I incorporated my workout in my time out of the house.
Wednesday - Is typically my day driving to mom and dads (60 - 70 minute drive), so I always do my walking with mom on this day
Friday I was meeting my sister for brunch - I invited her to go swimming- she lives in the area where I still have a pool pass. ( I had not been there in a few years and worried my eight year old pass might not be any good - I came prepared to pay). I swam for 50 minutes with no problems.
I am going to continue to incorporate my workouts when I am going to the city. I did not feel the pressure of worrying about HOW I was going to fit in a workout - those drives do me IN - I am tired and crampy. The last thing I want to do after a two hour (plus) drive is workout. On days I see mom and dad - I really do not want to come home and workout - I spend most of the day taking care of things for them and taking mom shopping.
It took me a LONG long long time to get here - after fighting all of my health issues and LIFE happenings - I am finally feeling like I am on my way!

You do have a lot of things you have to do. Enjoying your Parents while you can is a blessing. Both of mine are gone now. My Dad 15 years ago, and my Mom in 09. I remember when my Dad got so sick CKD he wouldnt eat. I would set with him, peel him a orange and give it to him piece by piece so he would eat it. Giving him 7 up to drink in little measurements, to drink he needed to get something in his system, Did i tell you that I prayed with my Dad this day and he was saved, i had prayed with him before, but i wanted to make sure. Jen, sometimes we need to take a break from pushing our self to exercise, just walk a few steps, take it easy on your self, do not feel guilty about what you dont feel like doing.
