My daughter made a sad decision today!

Saturday, April 21, 2012

My daughter today had to make a decision today. It is her responsibility to advise after finding out if an animal has a life threatening disease to put the animal down. She totally believes that you should do what ever is necessary to save that animal.

Tonight was the first time she made the decision that a small kitten would not survive. The tears came when she advised that the kitten should not suffer anymore and be put down. She advised the tech that was on duty to let it cross the rainbow bridge and God would watch over it . The tech had tears in her eyes, but told my daughter what a sweet special way to send the kitten to heaven. Prayers were said and then the vet proceeded to take the kitten. She said it was the hardest thing to do, even thou she knew that it would not be the last animal that she would have to make that decision. The vet told her that was the right decision because the kitten would not have survived and he too would have advised to have the kitten put down.

I told her that I know that it was a hard decision, but remember how many animals life's already you have saved when others wanted to put them down. The kitten is now in Gods hands. And I am very proud that I have a daughter that loves to work with animals, and that would do whatever she could to save their life's.

She is now in the process of becoming a Vet, it took her so long to decide that is what she wanted to do. I truly believe she will make a good one.

I think your daughter will make a great vet. Those decisions are never easy. I've had to make it for my own pets far too many times over the years :-(

It's the hardest act of kindness we ever have to do.

Awwww, so sorry. Very tough to do, but you know, sometimes we're kinder to animals being able to make that choice!
