So Exercise

Friday, April 20, 2012

This is week two of my life reboot. I have done really well so far with tracking my food, staying in ranges (not 100%, but really close) for carbs, protein, and fat, and the whole eating slowly thing. I feel like my stress levels have been much lower than normal this past week and a half.

So a couple of times this week I have added a walk in. Not far. A little over a mile each time. Not fast. Once with my husband, once with my crazy dog. It has been SO NICE to do it though! It feels so unhurried and fun. Almost like being on vacation or something. I guess because it's different from the routine?

I want to start making it a part of, if not every day, nice days. I want to get out and enjoy the sunshine and feel my legs stretch and just breathe a bit. It feels almost outside of time, which is weird, but I love it. I love this time of year anyway - this time around I'm going to make sure I enjoy it as much as possible!

I don't know that you can call it exercise much - I plotted the routes with Map My Run and put it into Spark People, and each time I only burned about 150 calories. But it's something that I have really enjoyed, and look forward to doing, which is what I need right now.

Oh, plus, I finally cleaned the spare room so that I can do some yoga and pilates DVD's! It's been a while so I'm looking forward to that too. I have this great set from Jennifer Kries that combines Pilates, Yoga, and Dance, and she does stretching and light weights as well. Each DVD is split into 20 minute segments, so you can do as much or as little as you want.

I'm really liking the things I'm doing for myself right now. I've decided happiness is something that I don't bother pursuing enough, and I'm glad that's changing.

Sounds like you are off to a good start. Exercise is a challenge for many. I am a walker
too. I rarely go over 2 miles or so, but I really love being outdoors, and so I do it a lot.
Many people spend years one day at a time planning the perfect fitness routine. But there is always some obstacle and they end up doing nothing at all and then berating themselves for being lazy. Where does that get you? I started with 10 min. a day, which added up to 300 more minutes a month than I had been doing, which was zero.
    Good for you!
