Starving

Friday, April 20, 2012

Usually I can handle a little hunger before lunch, but today it was uncool. My stomach hurt, and I kept looking at the candy dish like I was a lion eyeing its prey. I started to feel like I was getting heartburn too. I was famished. I had my usual breakfast of a Vita Tops Cran Bran. I do realize that's only 100 calories, and after not eating for 8 hours I'm sure my body could use a little more. I'm just usually not this ravenous!

I have been working out really hard lately. I've been doing ST at least 4x per week... usually 5! (you should see I do cardio about 3-4 times per week too (about 45 min of moderate to intense activity). I think my metabolism finally got a kick in the pants. Could it be that my weight will finally go down soon?!? (Well, if I keep eating baked fries like they are the last thing on earth I won't)

If the feeling stays with you for a few days, you may be needing more calories. There are many articles that talk about stauling your weight loss if you are under in calories.

I have found that if I get ahead of the weight loss over time graph that the suggested calorie tracker may need adjusted. It does not adjust automatically at times. To do this you go to the start page and select change under the calorie ticker. The first selection is calories (take note of the numbers in case you would like to put them back), select a different nutrient to track and then go back to calories (Kcal) and a new range will be calculated for your path. I was shocked the first time I did this and I went from 1500 to 2100 allowed.

You probably need to look at the timing of your calories. I usually am not hungry in the morning either. Since I have medication to taake in the morning that requires me to wait an hour to eat that works out really well for me. I have water and my medication and a cup of coffee first thing then a couple of hours later I have my breakfast. When I worked I used to bring unsweetened plain yogurt and fruit to work and have that be my breakfast. Much cheaper than those sugary mixed yogurts and I prefer the taste. Working out really hard means you need some food before and after you work out. Eating more during the day will probably make it easier to say no to the potatoes. Good Luck!
