Yep, caffeine withdrawal was pretty bad

Friday, April 20, 2012

I cut out caffeine yesterday. I knew I'd have some sort of headache but it was excruciating. By 5 o'clock I was done. I felt like I was going to throw up, I was dizzy. I made it through my youngest's baseball practice and then handed him off to the hubby at 7 and went straight to bed. I tossed and turned for several hours in pain then finally broke down and took some Tylenol. Within a half hour I was sleeping in pain free bliss. I slept until 5:45/6:00am.

I don't think it was just the lack of caffeine. I ate too few calories as well. I couldn't help it though. My stomach was crampy and I just wasn't hungry. I've got to force myself to eat. This morning was the same thing, no hunger. I forced down some strawberries, banana and a hard boiled egg. At least the cramps are gone. The headache too. I feel pretty good right now. On to day two. Nothing processed...

Good job not giving in to the pain. It's amazing how our body reacts to withdrawal (and, sadly, gives a small window into why drug addicts can get into such horrible behavior with the withdrawal symptoms they go through.)

Hopefully day two is easier on you.

Try quitting caffeine the next time you have the flu. Has always worked for me, but I've since decided a caffeine addiction isn't the worst thing I could have.

All the best beating the caffeine monster. I hope your appetite comes back, that should help you make it through the first few days. emoticon
