Thursday goals, cracking crackers and a super food treat.

emoticon Eat Clean:

Goal met!

My food today was:

Breakfast: Porridge with a spoonful of peanut butter/tofu mix (in the picture - peanut butter, silken tofu, honey, soya milk and vanilla extract), Earl Grey tea + soya milk

Snack: Mango and passion fruit smoothie

Lunch: Salmon and cucumber sandwich, apple and grapes, apple juice

Supper: tomato soup with endurance crackers + hummus (all 3 home-made – the crackers and hummus were an absolute hit with my son!)

Here is a picture of the endurance crackers and hummus I made tonight. Both recipes are courtesy of Oh She Glows and I’ve added the links.

Filtered water throughout the day + Earl Grey tea in the morning + apple juice for lunch + 1 cappuccino after supper.

Goal Met!

I was going to do Phase one of Natalie Jill’s Body Sculpt again but my thighs are so sore, I wanted to give them a rest, otherwise I’m not sure they are going to carry me through one hour of Zumba tomorrow morning!

Instead, I did phase 1/day 1 of the Jamie Eason’s Live Fit Trainer (chest and triceps).

I went to town today to pick my new glasses (not a very good photo, sorry) and guess what? It started raining! emoticon

I had quite a few errands to run and I was cold and fed-up and I got seriously tempted when I passed a shop called Herby’s. I know they make gorgeous coconut slices and almond slices and I SO wanted to stop and get one of them but I didn’t (it was a struggle, believe me.)
So to reward my will of steel (*giggles*), I got myself those little healthy super food packs at the health food shop where I bought my chia seeds for the crackers.

In the box, there are:

2 sachets of milled flax, sunflower, pumpkin & sesame seeds & goji berries (“This delicious mix is bursting with a range of essential fatty acids, vitamins and minerals that deliver some excellent health benefits. It has all the benefits of flaxseed plus the additional ingredients add vitamin D, E and complex B vitamins in to the mix. A 25g serving provides 12% RDA vitamin E and 9% RDA iron plus 5.1g protein.”)

1 sachet milled flaxseed, cocoa and berries (“This delicious mix of milled flaxseed, cocoa, strawberries and blueberries contains a guaranteed 10% level of flavanols, which are highly effective antioxidants that may help maintain a healthy heart and maintain efficient circulation throughout the body. You can now enjoy the luxurious taste of cocoa knowing you are fortifying your diet with extra vitamins, minerals and nutrients.”)

2 sachets of milled organic flaxseed (“One of nature’s richest plant sources of Omega 3 (ALA), an essential fatty acid used by the body and may help maintain a healthy heart. High in dietary fibre which aids digestion and helps maintain regularity and may assist in lowering cholesterol. A serving of 25g provides 6g of Omega 3 and 7.3g of fibre.”)

1 sachet of shelled hemp (“A complete protein in itself with 8.7g per 25g serving and important for the growth and repair of muscles, bones and skin. Great alternative protein source for vegetarians or vegans. With a rich, delicious, nutty texture, hemp is also a good source of iron and an excellent source of magnesium with 18% and 33% RDA’s of both these important minerals respectively.”)

2 sachets milled flaxseed, almonds, Brazil nuts, walnuts & co-enzyme Q10 (“In this tasty mix, flaxseed has been milled and blended with a range of healthy nuts, plus we have added co-Q10 which is a highly effective antioxidant and contributes to the production of energy in every cell of the body. A 25g serving provides 25mg of co-Q10 and is an excellent source of both selenium and magnesium with 30% and 21% RDA respectively per serving.”)

You can blend them in soup, smoothie, and yogurt or sprinkle them on salad, pasta, etc. Can’t wait to try one of them in my green smoothie tomorrow morning!

Be strong and healthy Sparkfriends, and have yourself a FAB day!

I love your frames..very modern especially with the blue. I've been adding flax seed to my smoothies for awhile, no scientific evidence here but I do feel better on smoothie days. All the health food packs look *so* healthy! I'm super impressed :). emoticon
