Stubborn Me

Wednesday, April 18, 2012

Life has so many obstacles from point A to point B that it should be water off a duck's back by this time. My hard-headedness has to be one of my better assets - I seldom take no for an answer - unless it comes from God.

My fitness center changed the key for the first time in nearly 5 years. I've seen the door bashed in, boarded up and the facility trashed at least a dozen times over those years. I'd say a new entry system was long overdue. When I contacted my subdivisions recreation office, I was told that a $500 deposit is required for my entry card. This allows them to know who entered the building and narrow down the potential violators. I asked what happens when the center is vandalized during a 24-hour period when I had used my coded key card. She avoided answering me but did say that I would be getting a visit from law enforcement. I asked her why cameras were not also installed and she said they are too expensive. I see a distinct pattern of contradictions here.

I drive by our community rec area 8-10 times each week and I have not seen a single soul in that building. They won't see me in there either cuz I'm voting with my dollar. I didn't even ask her how hard is it to get my deposit back. This totally sounds like a nightmare to avoid.

Why does this even matter? I haven't been there since before Christmas. Don't you ever run hot & cold on anything? DH & I have been doing cardio at home but now it is HIS knees that are the problem. My knees hurt too, but they always hurt.

There is a Bally's that I plan to visit tomorrow - hoping they will let us pay by the month for the few months we are still here. We desperately need the use of an elliptical - and I'll need one for rehab once I get my next Synvisc injections.

It is pretty much impossible to be fit when you can't be physical. My outlook is good and I am confident God has an answer for me.

I agree that is a hefty deposit, I am sure there are other gyms that don't charnge that much for a membership.
Good luck and keep up the good work with the fitness

Let me at'em! i'll beat them up for you! that just burns me up! the nerve. so, its for sure you guys are moving? is it decided where? and when? Praying for your knees and the gift of an elliptical! God can supply all of your needs and desires. is asking for an elliptical to improve your health asking for too much? i think not! heck, i'll betcha you can get one for free from your rec area when they lock the doors for good because no-one in their right mind is going to pay for that stinking key deposit!

    WOW, Lynne,

$500 for a deposit? That IS steep. I don't blame you for voting with your dollars. Glad to hear that you have been keeping up with your fitness at home.

I think Synvisc is what the orthopedic doc gave me the pamphlet on to read before my next visit. Is that the gel injection? Does it work?
