The weather has been awful all day: rain, wind, cold... All I wanted by the end of today was hot, comfort food. And there is nothing better than soup to recover from a cold day.
I therefore made a big pot of Chef Meg’s tomato soup (so I have enough for several meals) and I served it with a poached egg.
I found the idea of adding a poached egg to tomato soup in a French cooking magazine. I was very dubious at first, but it is positively scrumptious. When the runny egg yolk mixes with the tomato soup, it is beyond succulent! My son adores that recipe!
My goals for today were:

Eat Clean:
Goal almost met! I had a little biscuit with my coffee after lunch and a small piece of cheese after supper but the rest of my food for the day was clean and healthy.
(Once again, I want to point out that I’m not gunning for 100% clean – I think I’d have great difficulty to achieve this. But if I can reach 80-85% clean eating on a daily basis, I will be happy)
My food today was:
Breakfast: green protein smoothie (soya milk, banana, kale, frozen berries, protein powder)
Snack: oats crackers and sultanas
Lunch: baked falafel, green beans and moonblush tomatoes, soya yogurt, 1 coffee + small biscuit
Supper: tomato soup with poached egg + small piece of Reblochon
Snack (post workout): handful almonds and sultanas

Drink your water:
Goal met!
I had lots of filtered water + green tea for my breaks at work as well as a coffee after lunch and my usual Earl Grey tea in the morning.

Goal Met!
I did Phase One of Natalie Jill’s Body sculpt again. I was planning on doing it twice but I had underestimated just how sore I was from yesterday’s workout. My thighs were screaming with agony during the lunges and so were my abs during the core workout, so I stuck to doing it once.

Tomorrow, I am getting my new glasses (blue and black) – I don’t wear my glasses very often, first thing in the morning and last thing at night (call me vain but I only wear my contact lenses in public), but they were quite old and not at the right prescription anymore so it was time to change them.
Whilst I’m in town to pick up my glasses, I will go and shop for seeds as I’m very keen to try this recipe from Oh She Glows:

I’ve also wanted to make my own hummus for a while, but couldn’t find any tahini. Thankfully, my supermarket now has a “World Food” section where I can find more unusual ingredients, like coconut oil, for example, or tahini! Hurrah!
I’ll be using another Oh She Glows recipe for it and I’m sure it’ll go beautifully with the Endurance Crackers:

I don’t know if it’s all in my head but I think I already feel so much better in myself after only a few days of sticking to a mostly clean diet! I really feel that by taking it slow and just concentrating on my 3 goals, I have a good chance of getting back to my pre-Christmas/pre sinusitis fitness and nutrition routine – when I was losing weight, feeling strong and the healthiest I’d been in a long time.
Have a fab, strong and healthy day sparkfriends!
