Thank goodness it's not me!!! My co-worker, Bridgett, who I mentioned early 2011 was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I started having to cover her days for treatments, surgery, and radiation. It threw my whole routine off and I gained all my weight back. Between homeschooling and working all the time, I just didn't feel like I had the time to really workout and take care of myself the way I should. She finished all of her chemo and radiation on November 17, 2011. Things stayed kinda crazy through the holidays, but as of the new year my schedule returned to a really part-time basis. I couldn't be happier. I never wanted to work more than the 18 hours I week I started out working. Any more than that was too much with trying to homeschool my children during the day.
Well, everything returned to normal, at least, temporarily. On February 16th (I believe it was this day) she had a follow up with one of her doctors. It was then that she was informed that she was pregnant. On March 1st, she went to her first OB appointment and they did a sonogram. Needless to say, she found out she is not only having one baby, but two!! Two little bundles of joy. They told her they are fraternal so she is hoping for a boy and a girl. I am sure they will be adorable either way! The bad news is, I am will have to start working more crazy hours while she goes through her pregnancy appointments and they will be more frequent the closer to term she gets. Her due date is September 19th and they say they will take them at the end of August. That's about the time my kids will be starting the new school year. So, it's going to be a crazy hectic start off to the new school year! BLECK!!
I know that I shouldn't complain, it's just been really hard to take care of myself and get much me time through all of it. I am so glad she is well and the babies are healthy considering how quickly after chemo and radiation she got pregnant, but it's just hard to juggle all that's going on. I just need to make the most of my exercise and dieting in the next few months, because it will be hard to do after August!
