Well I just got back from a very busy day an hour ago and I have been now catching up on all my emails and sparking while trying to get my emotions in check as well as my thoughts for this blog.
Today was another emotionally charged day but it was so worth it. I wouldn't give up this day for noting. So glad I took this day off from work.
As most of you know from my blog last night that my sister, step dad and aunt (his sister) might be coming down for a family meeting and a visit with mom and then a meeting with her Social worker and associate to get the Representative Agreement Papers signed.
Well I found out late night that they are all coming down and will be meeting us at mom's place around 11am time. They got there at 12:15 so to traffic and construction.
As soon as my sister saw me she broke down and started crying and then got me crying. We haven't seen each other in over 12 years but it seems like only yesterday that we had that huge argument and I left vowing never to see her again, only communicate through emails or on Facebook.
Once the tears dried, we all sat down and I ran the family meeting explaining what is happening to mom and her placement and about the Representative Form.
It was unanimously decided that I will be the #1 Representative, John will be the Alternative and our Aunt Jean (Dad's Sister) will be the Monitor. We discuss how we are going to finish packing up mom's place and where to put it.
Aunt Jean is going to rent a storage Unit by Mom's place for two months. We are going to pack up everything and take it there until we have more time to sort through everything and then decide to keep, to throw out, to donate or to give to family members.
Once that was done it was time to head out to the Hospital for our meeting with the Social Worker and get the forms signed and witnessed.
We managed to fine a two hour free parking place that was two blocks away. So we save $8.00 in parking. Woohoo!!!!!!
As soon as we all walked into mom's room she woke up from her nap and had a huge smile on her face. Her face actually look so much better, it is not a droopy as it has been and she has so much more colour in her face.
She was so excited to see all her children together with Dad and Aunt. Like I said it has been over 12 years since the whole family has been together. The last time was at John's wedding.
After visiting for 15 minutes and explaining to mom what we are planning to do with her stuff and about the Representative forms. She was all set to sign the papers. She seems more at ease to know that I will be taking care of her finances.
Trisha and her co-worker came in and went over all the papers with us and thoroughly explained it all. She watched us all sign the papers and then they sign the agreement. We then handed mom a pen and she took it in her right hand and said that she has been practising writing with her right hand since she still can't use her left hand. She started to write her name, her first name was a bit messy but then you can read her last name really clear. Everyone was shocked and happy to see mom writing. Even Trisha and the other lady was surprised and told mom how great she did.
Now it is all official, legal in every sense of the way. I now can take the forms to my bank, get them to photo copy the forms, enter it into the system and then I can do mom's banking.
After that the lady's left and we continued to have a very talkative and happy visit. Then mom mentioned that she would like a hair cut so off I went to the nurses station to find out if it can happen. I ran into Leala who is handling mom's transfer and she said that mom is now in the system and that she could possibly leaving to her new place later this Friday or Saturday if a bed is available. If not it may happen sometime next week.
That is great news if it can be arranged, then I don't have to pay for mom's stay in Hospital starting May 15. A $30.25 charge per day until she is moved.
She also gave me a name for the hairdresser who has a mobile hairdressing business. I got her phone # so tomorrow or Wed. I will phone to book a hair apt. for mom.
After that we went to Knight and Day Restaurant for a very late lunch?early dinner stayed there for an hour talking and then decided it was time to go to mom's to get more packing done.
We spent another 3.5 hours there and got a whole lot of packing done. So much faster with all five of us than just with John and I.
Then we parted way with Kim giving me another huge hug, more tears on her part and a HUGH apology on her part.
I am so emotionally drained right now but I am also filled with love for my sister again. WE have our relationship back on even grounds and I think we will become better sisters and friends.
She actually told me that she now believes in what I told her over 25 years ago and why I didn't want to visit her while her husband's family was there.
One of these days I may break down and write about it and how I was physically hurt and emotionally destroyed.
I now can put that past behind me, no more baggage, no more excess weight on my shoulders concerning that time in my lift.
Once we got home I had to put the kettle on for a coffee and to spark. We also had a visitor knock on the door. John's friend John came to make sure we still need his help this Wed. to help move some of mom's stuff here. Stuff that John and I are keeping. Now that John had left I am writing up this blog then it is time to hit the hay and get some sleep.
My back is spasing out right now. I did take some Back Relaxant to help relieve the tightness in my back and that should start to work in 20 minutes or so.
No worries my back will be fine by the morning and I will certainly be taking it easy tomorrow when we go back to mom's to do more packing before I got to work tomorrow night.
I managed to pick up a 4.5 hour shift and I am so pleased for the extra hours. Now I have 20.5 hours this week.
So now you all know what a great rewarding day that I had or I should say that family had.
So never say never, things do happen when the time is right.
Now for some more good news. In the last four or five days now I have not once thought of my ex. Today when I talked to the family about our break up I had no emotions what so ever. I still value Leigh as a good person, a friend and I am so looking forward to meeting someone knew.
I am excited about my new life, the new me.
Good night, Sweet Dreams, Hugs and prayer to all
