Like my spark buddy FITFOODIE, I'm really finding that the hardest part of marathon training is finding the time to cover the crazy distances. My long runs the last three weeks were 13 miles, 11 miles, 14 miles, and today a slight taper to 10 miles. All of them have gone really really well. My 3-day-per-week training plan is keeping my legs feeling pretty good, too! Knock on wood, I haven't had shin splints yet!
Today I started out outside for my run. The weather was iffy and it was drizzling out, but I'd rather run outside than in, so off I went. About 4 miles in the sky opened up and I was drenched. I held out as long as I could, but my clothes were like a second skin and I was cold, so I called my husband to come and get me. He brought me home, I changed and headed to the YMCA to finish. We ended up with a tornado warning in our area, so I'm glad I saw out of the elements. 6 miles on a treadmill isn't too bad, and I was just glad I was dedicated enough to change and go, instead of calling it quits when the weather didn't cooperate.
Next weekend I'm running the Earth Day Half Marathon. My training schedule has 15 listed as my long run, so I'll be getting and extra 2 in post-race.
All's well and I'm feeling good! 9 weeks to Grandma's!!!!
