Spring in Iowa

Sunday, April 15, 2012

I just love SPRING in Iowa... all of the song birds are back now...except we are still waiting for the little wrens to set up house in their backyard apartment, er, birdhouse.

The robins are so pretty with their orange breasts as they have one eye on the ground for an unlucky worm. Just love to wake up to the sound of their song even when it is at FOUR A.M. :).

The newly overturned soil appears so black as it lies in contrast to the various hues of the new greens. Planting has begun in some areas, but there is always the chance of freezing conditions. It is such a relief to get everything in early, which in some years set up the scenario for the never ending game of chance between gardener/farmer and mother nature.

April showers bring May flowers... we are finally getting some much needed rain... but like with many springs once the faucet is turned on it doesn't get turned off right away. Some areas in Iowa are experiencing flooding as severe storms rampage through the Midwest this weekend... alas... this is spring in Iowa.

I'm with you, Julia Jean, spring is MAGICAL! Although selfishly I am glad that I live on the far western edge of the eastern time zone, so my robins don't come chirping until after 5. (grin) -- Claudia

Hmmm. Just read Enchantebroom's comments and there is a green bubble in it. Seems there are an awful lot of bubbles around you but I digress....
This was a lovely spring blog. Tender and sweet much like spring.
I hope the rain will be gentle with the delicate flowers.
Happy Spring to you sweet friend.
Much love and Light your way. I just mentally surrounded you in a BUBBLE of amber light. This is a good thing. Bubbles are good.
Have a great day.

Julia, how much rain have you gotten so far. How are you and yours doing? y'all okay. Hope the weather wasn't bad.

It's supposed to get down right nasty here. The irises are just now putting on blooms so they will probably be wiped out again this year. So I am going to do the following:

Just visualize, a slow steady rain in the areas needed for as long as needed. A good soil soaking with no extra run off or flooding. Surround this in a green bubble and send it out into the universe.

Love and Light

Anni
