Oh my goodness. It is around 6.15 pm on Sunday evening 15 April.
Today we had an amazing church service and had a young girl come who now wants to be baptised and hoped to get her children back in the next couple of weeks. That is what our church is about - social justice - nurturing the lost and lonely. We didn't ask questions, only took on board what she told us. She is just 24. A beautiful girl. I think she found God's love for her today.
We had the priest preside today who did the workshop yesterday. We don't have a full time priest. We rely on 'friends of the parish' who we pay each time they come. It is amazing. Everyone loves coming to our church to preach. The Bishop would like to to 'bottle what we have' LOL. We are an Anglican church in a low socio economic area. There are 5 of us (I am one of them) who are the Ministry Support Team. I can say we are amazing! God works through us and we all know He supports us!
Ok ... end of sermon!
So today I have come home after church, where I finished off some Treasurer's things (yes you guessed it, I am also Treasurer). I forgot to go and see mum, so I stayed home and packed my bag, sent an email off to the aged care facility where she lives to give phone number for my 3 children who will be in Aus while our eldest and family and us go to Thailand.
I then went down to see Mum. Dementia/Alzheimer's is a horrible disease. Yet today mum was quite lucid. She knows I am someone she loves. After a little while I asked her did she know who I was, and she said Sandra. How amazing is that. Then my husband phoned me wanting to know where I was and that we needed to pick up the hire car to take in the morning. I put him on speaker phone and she just loved talking to him, and was really alive. She was so happy.
I came home, met DH and off to the rental place (where he works, LOL) and picked up the car.
Our son and family arrived safely in Sydney and we will see them in Thailand.
We leave early a.m. and are flying QANTAS - and have been upgraded to premium economy
That will be so awesome. We came home premium economy from Singapore last year ... very nice.
I was speaking to my daughter in law this morning. There is a gym where we are staying, so I hopefully can do some treadmill work and lots of walking. Maybe they will have a scale? Who knows.
My DH says there is free wi fi at the Aussie Bar ... he sure is trying to get me there! LOl
There is wi fi at the resort - so I should be able to contact, even if I have to pay.
At the moment I am backing up my iPhone and iPad. My suitcase is already in the car. I am in my pi's and will do a load of washing before I go to bed, and hang it on a clothes airer so it will be dry when we get home - DH will apparently need the pants he is in now! Bless him! LOL LOL
I took Max to the kennels yesterday - as usual, he couldn't wait to get in the door. I am so happy he is so excited to go there, they must treat him very well.
So the crunch ... how do I deal with managing my eating while away? Well I have lots of books on my Kindle and the spark recipe book and I guess I will just try to do my best and get as much walking/swimming in as i can. The resort has a swim up bar ... which is a bit of a worry ... but I guess swim, wine, swim, wine LOL
I have never been to Thailand. My DH says it is a beautiful place - he has been there 3 or 4 times with no. 2 son and once with no. 2 daughter.
I hope to ride an elephant, pat the Tigers with the monks, go on the River Kwai and anything else that is available. Also manicures, pedicures, massages and if I can find a tank where you put your feet in and the fish eat off all the dead skin .... look out here I come!
So all my lovely spark friends, I hope to stay in contact, but if I don't, I will surely add photos and comments when I come back.
Blessing to you all.
