This weeks Harry Potter Challenge requires that I right two blogs this week. One about defeating my fitness enemies, and the other about things that stop me from achieving my goals. This ones about the former.
Sooo, enemies. Ya know, I have quite a few of them. I think I'll just write about the ones I take down on Saturdays. Makes it easy.
I'm training for the Flying Pig Marathon with Mom right now. Saturdays are when we get together with our training group for the "long" walks, the ones where we have to go a certain amount of miles. Naturally there are a lot of obstacles, i.e. enemies, to overcome on these days. Tricky sidewalks that like to grab your feet, overhanging plants that try to catch you with their branches, sludge pits and lakes in the middle of sidewalks, traffic lights that are unpredictable, the occasional idiot behind the wheel, not to mention the massive hills that eat your stamina, long stretches of road that try to kill morale, and the occasional bit of horrible weather that compounds everything.
There's only one thing to do in the face of so many enemies. Take them down one by one. I keep one eye on the sidewalk at all times when I walk, and dodge branches and puddles to the best of my ability. Can't do much about traffic lights, but if I have a large enough window, I cross the street any way. Mom and I help each other to spot potential idiots, and always keep a sharp eye on them. Those are easy enemies to beat.
The last three are tougher. They drain you of energy, and make you have to fight to keep moving. I beat all three of these today by chattering with Mom, singing catchy tunes to myself, and telling myself that if my fantasy role models can fly though hurricanes and climb mountain trails in blizzards, then I can power on to the finish line. Sometimes, you just gotta know how to kick your enemies where it hurts.
Well, that's pretty much all I can think of so good night all! I'll see you all in tomorrow's blog!
