I have been really good at tracking my food. That was the one deal I made with myself. I was not going to beat myself up over what I ate, I was just going to track it all and try to learn from my mistakes. I've learned quickly that it is much better for me to plan meals and track them ahead of time. If I make choices before I am hungry, I do a better job of staying on target. And when you cook your own food, it's relatively easy. But what happens when you go out?
I went to a going away party for a friend this evening, and we ordered food from the Turkish place down the street. I knew there was a party, so I made sure to eat lightly today, and save plenty of calories for tonight, but I have no clue how to track what I ate. How many calories in the restaurant's special Pide recipe? The tracker gives you points for Pide bread, but not when it is covered with cheese, sausage and scrambled eggs. Or the beef dish that is kind of like BBQ beef, but not really? I don't even know what it is called. I want to track this stuff, but I don't know how.
I resorted to looking for foods that were similar--Pizza for the pide, BBQ beef for the special beef dish, but I have no deal idea how I did.
I suppose it is one day, and one day won't kill me, but as a perfectionist, I have this all or nothing attitude, and it is kind of killing me that I cannot do this perfectly.
