Ordered some Books yesterday

Saturday, April 14, 2012

Normally probably not blog-worthy. But when you consider the fact that I do not read, it is definitely worth noting. I can read of course, but I just hate to read books. I can read horse magazines, business journals, etc but to pick up a book, like a novel, I absolutely hate to.

In all fairness, I might enjoy it now, but I havent done it for decades, not since school, so a number of decades, so I am only assuming I still despise it.

I do however enjoy learning, and researching, and I have learned so much information to help me on my journey from the internet. I am amazed at how long this information has been available and I am just now finding it. I have mentioned before, just earlier today in fact, that I guess I just wasnt ready before.

So now I crave information. I want to understand. I want to know how and why and what and when and where..... I have been piecing together facts from here and there and implementing positive change in my life, and having good results with weight loss, however I decided that I should start from the beginning.

So, I ordered 3 books to get me started. I may not have the exact name right, but they are as follows:

Primal Blueprint
Primal Blueprint 21 Day Transformation both by Mark Sisson
Why We Get Fat by Gary Taubes

I cant wait to dive in!!

My husband and I both got Nooks for Christmas, and we find that we are reading a lot more now. I have set up a way to put my Nook up on my stationary bike, so I can read while I exercise. It helps pass the time, and I feel like I am learning something while I am burning calories. Enjoy your new books!

    Hurrah for you! =D
Those are great books. Start with the Taubes book. Mark Sisson's books are pleasant reads, too, so those are good choices. You'll get great info from all of those.

Isn't it a shame that the information truly IS out there ... we've just been herded away from it and discouraged against it ... the overall mindset is still that anyone daring to voice that research is considered "fringe" or misinformed or just basically deranged. I want so much to try to open my family to it, but I know how it would be received. It's very discouraging.

I've discovered that many of the people who adopt a low carb or Primal/Paleo lifestyle are also the sort who need to know. They're hungry for that information. They're taking responsibility for their health and making the right strides in that direction. So, good for you! You are right in that path!

The previous member has a good suggestion with the audiobooks. I have some things on Kindle, but I hadn't thought of the audio. My DH likes audiobooks for listening on road trips ... but those are more the novel sorts of things. I find (even though I'm an avid lifelong reader) that I need to go back and scrutinize parts of these books ... and I'd find that difficult in audio format. Sometimes I want to digest it slowly. But it may be just the ticket for you. You should see what's available.

Let us know how you like the books!

I have found that I would rather listen to books, I have trouble sitting still and just reading, I download audio books and listen to them when I walk or exercise or do housework or dishes.

And as a bonus, if I am listening to something really interesting, I walk longer and get more exercise.

(I use audible.com for my books, and they have a huge selection.)

Enjoy your books!
