The sun is out again -- things are dry for the next three days. Happy Sigh.
My birthday (happy 51) is next friday, so birthday meals with friends start tonight.
Mindfullness and moderation are my self-kindness birthday gifts to myself. And since I've been practicing, these are not too much of a challenge any longer.
The mindfullness with eating has been spectacular. Most meals (yes, not perfect here --- sometimes I just want to read my book or magazine while I eat, but at least I'm "mindfull" that I'm choosing that:):):)..... so most meals I have been eating with awareness and gusto and it IS better. I don't eat as fast (usually) and I savor my meal time.
One of the things I LOVE is good food (and luckily, for me, that is also healthy food, primarily vegan food) and so taking the time and awareness to really enjoy it has been a huge gift to myself.
Before the self-kindness project, I tended to rush through stuff -- because I was focused on everyone else and everything else. Now, whether it is my morning shower or a new book or my dinner - I take the time to savor it. For me. And, oddly enough, this seems to make the people (and life in general) around me happier because I am happier.
Ok, enough philosphy -- back to life.
