I eat when... or sorting my head out

Saturday, April 14, 2012

I eat when I am alone and feel powerless.
I eat when I am alone and feel lonely. My sister was my first friend and then she began playing sports and staying after school when I was 11. Food was my second friend. I miss my sister.
I eat when I am alone and feel abandoned.
I eat when I am alone to make myself feel shameful, powerless, and lonely. Who wouldn't abandon someone like that?

I eat for nutrition and energy and pleasure when I feel emotionally healthy.

Hopefully in recognizing that eating because you are alone creates all the other negative emotions that drive eating because you are alone will help you break that vicious cycle.

Sometimes it's hard to sort through & face these emotions, but it's an important part of healing & coming to understand that we do have choices and we can choose differently going forward.

Great starting point identifying the situations that cause you to eat.
Now on to change!! emoticon

Love this! Love the honesty behind it. It helps to get it down "on paper" and out of your head sometimes.
