Simple pleasures..

Saturday, April 14, 2012

Priorities really do change when life situations alter your life. I remember when I was in my 20's dating, a simple pleasure was a Harley ride in the country with my boyfriend. Later on, a simple pleasure was a cool halter top or pair of designer jeans.
Still later, when first married, a simple pleasure was making a wonderful dinner for my hubby and I, savoring the time with him and talking(He worked 7 days, 16 hour days).

WHen my Dd was born, every second was a pleasure, even the everyday things I did with and for her. Sharing a popsicle, making Snoopy sno-cones in the heat of July; making blanket tents with a card table and chairs in the living room or making a simple playhouse out of cardboard boxes from new appliances , on our basement floor for her fantasy playtime..

Fast forward 25 years:
Calling in a Rx refill via voice mail, getting a free car wash, finding a coupon for groceries you need, feeling a pain pill do its' job, having Dd haul heavy things for me up the basement stairs, prepare meals, housework, etc.

I guess my last simple pleasure will be knowing that I already have my cemetery plot, my Trust all in order, owe nobody $$ and hoping they plant me in the correct hole!!!!!!!!!!
What more could a gal ask for????? Lowering expectations makes for a more relaxed, contented life..

Great blog! Appreciating the little things makes life so much better! Candles on a gloomy day, a butterfly on a flower, the smell of lilacs, a quiet Saturday morning spent on SP after a long week at work - always something to be grateful for!
