Diabetic lecture

Friday, April 13, 2012

I went to a 2 hour seminar last night on how to prevent damage to your body even after being diagnosed with diabetes or pre-diabetes. Lots of interesting facts including the fat in my belly contributes secretions just like a gland and this actually is part of the problem. Another problem is the liver is constantly trying to get sugar to your sugar starved parts of your body.

I learned that 30 minutes a day of good old brisk walking (just like spark says) will do as much good as some drugs! I also learned that consistency in exercise is extremely important. Slacking off for 48 hours can practically reset you to 0. But the good news is you can exercise while watching TV. If you can't walk then exercise your arms.

I needed this information to help keep me motivated. Just a 5% weight loss will improve my blood sugar levels.

Very glad DH and I went to this. Oh yeah.... I learned by the new standards I am no longer considered pre..... But I am in control!

So glad you are educating yourself about diabetes. Exercise makes a huge difference and so does losing that belly fat. I've been med-free for 2 years now.
